Sun Valley, ID. (July 10, 2024) – Sun Valley Resort, North America's first destination ski resort, established in 1936, today announces the Village Master Plan for the Sun Valley Village. This document will guide near and long term village improvements and continued investment in guests and the community. The Village Master Plan is guided by the objectives of preserving the Village’s special sense of place while building upon the resort’s famous world class amenities and experiences.
As outlined in the Sun Valley Village Master Plan, continuous improvement is essential for Sun Valley Resort to maintain its excellence in guest experience. Many thoughtful Village improvements have been completed in recent years, including the renovation of the Sun Valley Lodge and Sun Valley Inn, and the creation of the Pavilion. The aim of the Sun Valley Village Master Plan is to sustain scenic beauty, a sense of community and a world renowned year round resort to make the City of Sun Valley a highly desirable place to live, work, play and visit.
The Village Master Plan preserves the iconic 1930s architecture that defines Sun Valley Resort, honoring its legacy while modernizing facilities to offer guests and the community a refreshed environment. This modernization effort will include near and long term improvements such as:

The Sun Valley Village occupies approximately 61 acres at the heart of Sun Valley Resort. As the primary center of commerce and community vitality in the City, a guiding Master Plan document is crucial to direct future improvements in ways that provide vibrancy, resiliency and sustainability for the Resort while incorporating the goals and objectives of the City of Sun Valley’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan. A detailed Master Plan is required by City of Sun Valley regulations to achieve these goals.
The general public is invited to an open house with a brief question and answer session.The open house will be held at the Boiler Room in the Sun Valley Village on July 23, 2024 from 4:30pm-5:30pm, and all Wood River Valley residents are welcome to attend.
