In addition, in the 2025-26 winter season, Sun Valley Resort will implement RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) lift ticket technology across its operations. RFID technology will be implemented at all base areas of Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain, allowing skiers and riders to access both mountains without having to get their pass or ticket out of their pocket.
This latest investment is a key component of the resort’s long-term development plan, reinforcing its commitment to guest experience while streamlining mountain access.
With RFID-enabled lift tickets and season passes, guests can now enjoy a seamless, hands-free experience at base-area lifts. This move builds on the resort’s significant infrastructure investments over the past two years, including the addition of new high-speed lifts, Seattle Ridge (2025), Flying Squirrel and Challenger (both 2024), designed to improve mountain accessibility and overall efficiency.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are constantly seeking ways to enhance the guest experience,” said Pete Sonntag, COO of Sun Valley Resort. “The integration of RFID technology is the next step in our continued investment in the mountain. Alongside the state-of-the-art lifts we’ve introduced in recent seasons, this technology reaffirms our dedication to providing the most efficient and enjoyable experience possible for our guests.”
The integration of BLE technology alongside traditional RFID allows for future mobile app expansions and other guest service expansions. With these improvements, Sun Valley Resort continues to solidify its reputation as the premier destination for skiers and riders seeking adventure and an unmatched guest experience.
New this year, guests have the exciting opportunity to enhance their experience by adding just $5 to every pass purchase in support of the Sun Valley Resort Conservation Fund! In collaboration with the National Forest Foundation, this fund plays a crucial role in driving essential sustainable recreation and forest health projects within the cherished Sawtooth National Forest. This initiative offers a simple yet impactful way to give back to the lands that inspire your adventures!
