Sun Valley Resort Announces 2024 Summer Operations & Events

Lift accessed hiking and mountain biking, Baldy Bluebird Festival, Sun Valley on Ice & more kick off the summer season at Sun Valley Resort 

Sun Valley, ID (May 9, 2024)  Sun Valley Resort announces its kickoff to the summer season with mountain operations starting back up on Bald Mountain on June 21 for lift-accessed hiking and access to Roundhouse which will be open seven days a week. Lift-accessed mountain biking will follow, starting July 1.  Later in the week Sun Valley Resort and RJK Entertainment present the first Baldy Bluebird Music Festival, July 4-5, bringing two evenings of music at River Run Plaza. 

“The summer season in Sun Valley is a beloved time and can be just as magical as winters here with events and activities to choose from every day,” said Pete Sonntag, Sun Valley Resort GM and VP. “New this year, we're excited to invite guests and the Sun Valley community to our first annual Baldy Bluebird Music Festival, bringing together six incredible live music performances at the base of Bald Mountain over the Fourth of July.” 

The summer festivities begin with traditions like the Sun Valley Ballet on June 29-30 and the Summer Kickoff Party on July 1, when lifts will be spinning for hiking, biking, adventuring and live music at River Run. Sun Valley on Ice begins its summer series debut on July 3 with headliner Ilia Malinin, a two-time gold medalist and 2024 world gold medalist. The evening will be followed by fireworks at the Pavilion. On July 4, Baldy Bluebird Music Festival takes the stage featuring performances from Midland, Charlie Worsham, Axel Diehl and a special Fourth of July surprise after the concert. Grace Potter is set to headline on July 5 with supporting performances from JD Clayton and The Pisten Bullys. The activities lineup continues all summer long including the River Run Summer Series beginning July 24 for live music, family fun, and extended lift hours. Sun Valley Resort is pleased to offer endless things to do from bike rentals and bike tuning services to yoga, horseback riding, sport shooting, tennis, pickleball, and more. 

The golf season has kicked off with the opening of White Clouds and the back nine holes of the 7,214 yard-long Elkhorn Golf course. The front nine of Trail Creek and front nine of Elkhorn will open on May 11 and the back nine of Trail Creek will open on May 18. Sun Valley Resort’s golf courses offer the country’s most amazing views on world renowned greens for every level golfer. Golf season passes can be purchased here. 

Bald Mountain summer lift tickets and passes are now on sale. With over 400 miles of single-track spread throughout the valley, individuals of all ages and experience levels can find an activity to suit their needs from mountain biking to hiking. The technical and rugged trails on Bald Mountain now boast the country's longest purpose-built downhill route and 3,100 feet of lift-access trails. The more relaxed White Cloud Trails offer stunning views of the valley and a great hiking or biking experience for beginners and families.
