The Sun Valley area boasts over 400 miles of dirt singletrack along with over 30 miles of paved bike paths separated from our roads. This means there are fantastic biking options for everyone. The local mountain biking is some of the best and most scenic in the country and our winter ski mountain, Bald Mountain, now offers lift-accessed terrain that includes America's longest purpose-built downhill trail with over 3,100 vertical feet of thrilling flow trails. For those folks and families who just want to explore the valley on paved trails, grab a comfort bike or e-bike and head out on the paved Wood River Trail system which offers a variety of destinations and scenic views throughout the valley we call home.
While you can hike or bike up Bald Mountain from multiple points, the only lift-served access is located at River Run Plaza. From here you can load your bike on the state-of-the-art gondola, traveling 2,000 vertical feet in eight minutes. You can load your bike on the Christmas quad chairlift all the way to the top, or take a few laps on the lower half of the mountain. Please note, due to the Seattle Ridge Lift Project and ongoing forest health work, the Cold Springs Trail will be closed this summer on Bald Mountain.
Note: E-bikes are not permitted on lifts or trails on Bald Mountain.
